General Tutoring
General math tutoring sessions are most productive when students are aware of their trouble areas and the topics they find most challenging.
Before starting the session:
- Take a few moments to reflect on the past week's assignments.
- Show up prepared with an idea of where to focus.
- Bring in the hard problems - I'm here to help you get through it!
The session:
- Focus on tackling new and upcoming topics.
- Review or reteach a topic as necessary to reinforce the lesson.
- Practice problems together and independently.
After finishing the lesson:
- When requested, or if I see the need, I am also happy to prepare worksheets or summary sheets for students in anticipation of an upcoming test or quiz.
Test Specific Tutoring
Standardized test tutoring focuses more on timed practice, test-taking strategy, and review of topics revealed to be challenging. Homework is assigned and reviewed.
